Playlin'sGuide

Toon Tone is a daily color guessing game where your mission is to recreate a famous cartoon character's signature color from memory using hue, saturation, and brightness sliders.

Each day gives you five rounds. A prompt names a character like Pikachu, Road Runner, or SpongeBob, and you drag three sliders to match their iconic shade. Your guess is scored with CIEDE2000, a perceptual color distance metric. The result is a Ξ”E score. Lower is better. A near perfect match earns you close to 100 points per round.

  • Each round names a character and asks you to match their signature color.
  • Adjust hue (color family), saturation (purity vs. grey), and brightness (light vs. dark).
  • Submit to see the target color, your Ξ”E distance, and your score.
  • You get 5 rounds per daily puzzle.
  • Choose from 40 franchises or play a random mix across all of them.

The game doubles as a deep cartoon color reference, cataloging 94 characters with exact hex codes, RGB values, and curated palettes.

Hint: Start with hue first. Getting the color family right matters more than fine tuning saturation and brightness early. A slightly desaturated blue beats a perfectly tuned green every time.
