Turn a familiar idiom into your own with an intentionally wrong part, then write a (humorous, serious, witty, clever) definition for your invented phrase.

Don't Be an Idiom is a daily creative writing game where your mission is to complete a familiar idiom with an intentionally wrong part, then write a definition for your new creation.
Each day, you're given the start of a well-known saying. Instead of finishing it the traditional way, you sabotage it with your own twist. Then you define what your new idiom means, as if it were a real, socially accepted saying.
- You start with the beginning of a common idiom.
- Part of the phrase is marked for replacement, make it your own by shoving new word(s) in there.
- Write a definition for your newly invented phrase.
- Submit and share your creation.
- A new idiom drops every day.
The goal isn't to be correct. It's to be clever, absurd, or unexpectedly insightful. Think of it as collaborative comedy where everyone gets the same setup and takes it in wildly different directions.
Why we like it:
- β Rewards creativity over trivia knowledge, so there's no wrong answer.
- β Reading what others came up with is half the fun.
- β Takes under a minute but sticks with you all day.
Hint: Don't overthink it. Your first instinct is usually funnier than your fifth revision. Lean into wordplay, visual absurdity, or just whatever makes you smile.
