Objective

Guess the correct opening sequence played by both White and Black.

Playlin'sGuide

Chessle is a daily chess puzzle where your goal is to guess the opening move sequence played by both White and Black.

Starting from the standard chess position, you must determine the exact moves played in the opening. Each guess includes moves for both players, forming a short sequence that represents the start of a real opening line.

After each guess, tiles provide feedback similar to Wordle:

  • 🟩Green means the move is correct and in the correct position.
  • 🟨Yellow means the move appears in the opening but in a different spot.
  • ⬛Gray means the move does not appear in the opening sequence.

You have six guesses to identify the correct line.

Normal Mode asks you to guess three moves for each side, while Expert Mode increases the challenge to five moves for each side.

Why we like it:

  • βœ…A clever mix of chess theory and Wordle-style deduction.
  • βœ…Great practice for recognizing common openings.
  • βœ…Both casual players and theory nerds can enjoy the challenge.

Hint: Start with the most common opening moves like e4, d4, Nf3, or c4. Narrowing down the opening family early can help reveal the full sequence.
